We revisited the meaning of the phrase in the preface of this paper, “…the truth of the fact that an actual fragment of the living God resides within the intellect of every normal minded and morally conscious Urantia mortal.”  Technically how can a fragment of the living God (personalized Deity) reside within the intellect?  The Thought Adjuster is not personal.  Here we confront the “in truth, but not in fact” situation that we have encountered elsewhere.  We remember the 5th ER is a revelation of ''truth''.  And truth is transcendent of fact.  The risk in this viewpoint is the temptation to abandon the reality of our scientific faculty for a mystical view of reality.  Truth is as literal as fact, albeit transcendent thereof.  Approach transcendence in a scientific sense rather than a mystical one.

A caller inquired concerning the implications of [5:1.9].  The vast time involved in the attainment of God may seem overwhelming, yet considering, the purpose and goal of the ascension is “to be perfect even as God the Father is perfect”, how could this task not require enormous time and distance from the creatures’ perspective?  Further, how stupendous we are assured that it is possible!  Also, note that the passport to God attainment is being indwelt by a Mystery Monitor and subsequent fusion therewith.

The revelators describe God’s presence in terms of the threefold nature of reality.  Yet the opening paragraph’s reference to the divine presence employs terms designative of Deity not personalized Deity.  As we have been reminded continually, God (personalized Deity) is present outside of the perfect central creation not in fact but in truth.  The material universe constitutes the physical presence of the Infinite.  The creature’s transactions with Deity are accomplished through the faculty and function of mind, as Deity is innately minded.  Therefore our attempts to engage Deity best involve striking step with the wholeness of our mind, as qualified by the depth of individual intellectual experience and by the evolutionary personality level.  Spiritually, the presence of Divinity (Deity-likeness) varies according to the capacity of the creature and the degree of consecration to the doing of the divine will.  Contrary to old wineskin concepts of the divine will involving outer-life acts, consecration to the divine will is an inner-life potentialization, executable in the moment, the infinite consequences of which play out over time.

Listen to the archive for clarifying details of the workings of the personality circuit in consonance with the often sited statement [112:1.17] “This distinction is vital, for in a cosmic system the individual members are not connected with each other except in relation to the whole (Paradise Trinity) and through the individuality of the whole (Mother Deity).”  All of which testifies to the truth of God’s “connection” with all of his creature personalities through the “bosom of the Father”, a term highly suggestive of maternal Deity as the conductor of the Father’s personality circuit.

God’s presence is most immediately available in the creature’s attempted communion with the indwelling Thought Adjuster.  That we are rarely if ever intellectually conscious of our contact with the Adjuster in no wise disproves the validity this experience.  The Adjuster serves as a catalyst for the enhanced awareness and function of the spiritual influences that surround and impinge upon the creature.  Proof of such divine activity is to be found in the extent to which the fruits of the spirit are manifested in the life experience of the individual.

Our discussion of the final two paragraphs of the section was most thought provoking.  Here we explored the nature and dynamics of the three mindal selves which constitute material mortals: the spiritual self—the Thought Adjuster, the adjutant mind self—the material self, and the morontia self—the soul.  That the reality of Adjuster communion is mainly limited to the realms of soul consciousness (of which we are rarely if ever aware in this life) should arouse in us reactions of humility and trust.

This entire section deserves repeated reflection and contemplation.  True worship is far removed from what passes for worship in modern religious life.  The revelators attempt to sort out the distinctions between prayer and worship regarding the Paradise Deities and local universe Deities.  In the highest sense it is the Universal Father, and him only whom we worship.  Worship is encircuited and dispatched via the Father’s personality circuit, albeit the Father’s spirit presence facilitates the registry of homage and adoration to the Universal Father.

The revelation here provides hitherto unknown specifics of the creature, creator communion.  Prayer (self-reminding) include the supplications and petitions of the creature and are of concern to local universe personalities and the Creator Son’s spiritual organization.  Worship (self-forgetting) is for its own sake and contains no self- or creature interest.

In conclusion in the words of the revelation: “The mortal mind consents to worship; the immortal soul craves and initiates worship; the divine Adjuster presence conducts such worship in behalf of the mortal mind and the evolving immortal soul. The divine presence cannot be discovered anywhere in nature or even in the lives of God-knowing mortals so fully and so certainly as in your attempted communion with the indwelling Mystery Monitor, the Paradise Thought Adjuster. What a mistake to dream of God far off in the skies when the spirit of the Universal Father lives within your own mind! God lives in every one of his spirit-born sons.
