Episode:Jesus Goes Public—Precursor and Prelude (Part 7)

From Symmetry of Soul

After his baptism Jesus entered upon the forty days of adjusting himself to the changed relationships of the world and the universe occasioned by the personalization of his Adjuster. This was a season for thinking over the whole career of his Urantia bestowal, and planning for his ensuing public ministry. Jesus also thought over the whole span of human life on Urantia, starting from the days of Andon and Fonta.

Opening thought: The Lord said to Moses, "Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone with the law and commandments."... When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai. Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. [Exodus 24]

Closing thought: Dig deep and find the peace that passes all understanding. We life in times where you will find it quite useful.

Commentary after Review

[196:3.10] describes the discover, recognize, interpret, and choose steps to a recognition of moral insights and discernment of spiritual meanings. The recognition step derives from the faculties of the cosmic intuitions. But crucial to correct understanding of the interpretations are the validity of the initial assumptions and soundness of the concept frame in which these discriminations are taking place.

Socialization of religious reflection is encouraged as a safeguard against dangerous extremes and promotes evolutionary progress. The 5th ER provides a valuable treasure trove of cosmically precise initial assumptions as well as vastly superior concept frames to guide the sincere seeker in the pursuit of truth, beauty, and goodness. However, it takes courage to confront one’s own preconceived opinions etc., and personally dismantle them in favor of the enhanced cosmic meanings and augmented spiritual values as they are discovered in the 5th ER. It is a revelation of truth not an affirmation of longstanding beliefs.

136:3 The Forty Days

This season of seclusion of the Master is not to be confused with the pre-baptismal retreat on Mt. Hermon of six weeks occurring only five months previous to this. Biblical accounts do not distinguish the two events and fail to accurately represent the true nature of either. It was during his earlier pre-baptismal sojourn on Mt. Hermon that he met with the traitorous Satan and Caligastia as an unaided mortal of the realm and technically terminated Caligastia’s reign as Planetary Prince, assuming that title himself. It was during his time on Mt. Hermon that Jesus actually attained first psychic circle pre-fusion status.

It was during these forty days that Jesus formulated the plans and determined upon the technique of proclaiming the new kingdom of God in the hearts of men. These plans, policies, techniques, methods and procedures for his subsequent ministry demonstrate again the exquisite balance between the spiritual idealism versus material pragmatism|spiritual idealism and material pragmatism he brings to bear on the outworking of his public ministry. We can hardly imagine what is entailed in his adjustments to the changed relationships of the world and the universe occasioned by the personalization of his Adjuster.

Jesus was now fully self-conscious of his relation to the universe of his making as well as to the greater aggregation of the universe of local universes as supervised by the Paradise Father. As part of this planning he thoroughly recalled Immanuel’s bestowal charge.

Now for the first time since leaving Salvington the Creator Son re-established communication with Gabriel, who appears bearing confirmation on authority of the Ancients of Days of Michael’s earned sovereignty of Nebadon and the termination of the Lucifer rebellion. The Constellation Father of Edentia also joined the conference with Michael and Gabriel with the bestowal release of Immanuel leaving him free to terminate his incarnation henceforth and in the manner of his own choosing.

With Michael’s fulfillment of supreme like deity, he now personifies a power-personality synthesis which immediately brings into play his creator powers, which as we shall see going forward are the occasion for his numerous so-called miraculous demonstrations via:

  • celestial-assist (wine, and healing at sundown); or
  • through his personal presence as God incarnate (touching the hem of his garment).

136:4 Plans for Public Work

Jesus immediately decided not to teach contemporaneously with John. However, knowing John’s temperament and tactics Jesus began to make definite plans for his program which included his people, the world, and every inhabited world in his universe.

This period of seclusion marks the end of the point-to-point exchange between Jesus’ human and divine minds, and the beginning of the two minds now made one. Because Jesus’ selfhood is ever present, he is constrained to declare “not my will be done but yours be done.” It should be noted here that his restraint of personal will in favor of the divine will is not for us to emulate. Rather it is for our spiritualized mind to assert “it is my will that your will be done.”

Reflect on the scope of Jesus’ thinking during this time. He reviewed his entire bestowal career in the flesh up to this time. He thought over the whole span of human history from the days of Andon and Fonta through the Melchizedek mission. The fruits of these reflections were incorporated into the planning for his further ministry which would best serve this world as well as contributing to the betterment of all other rebellion-isolated worlds.

Jesus was faced with two ways forward with his public ministry. He could proceed according to his own way, or he could continue in the Father’s way. It was made known to Jesus that it would afford Immanuel great satisfaction if Jesus were to finish his bestowal as he had begun it, always subject to the Father’s will. And Jesus so promised on the third day of his seclusion.

Notes by Brad

  • Deduction is a form of interpretation, sure.
    • A->B->C->D
    • But where did A come from? It's your initial concept frame.
    • If you don't challenge the concept frame that gave you A, then surely your A is flase.
      • If you think A is innately divine and worthy of being leaned on fully, that's the 3rd principle of the Lucifer rebellion.
    • A must be reasonable... or your aren't reasoning. You're just rationalizing.
    • Only natives to Havona innately have a true A.
  • The 5th ER is here to provide better initial assumptions. A better A, so to speak.
    • Before the 5th ER, civilization advance in slowly through us tussling with contending concept frame.
  • Careful: you can willfully resist a better concept frame (perhaps you listen but don't really let it in).
    • Can you have the courage to let a different concept frame be entertained?
    • Without this differential, you have no tension.
  • A synthetic approach to the pursuit of truth is even better
    • You can assess not only the reasonableness of A ("am I starting with fact? am I starting causally?")
    • You can go further: is A logical?
