Episode:Thought Adjusters—Selfhood, Death, and Survival (Part 6)

From Symmetry of Soul

The purpose of cosmic evolution is to achieve unity of personality through increasing spirit dominance, volitional response to the teaching and leading of the Thought Adjuster. The survival values of selfhood are transferred from the material mind to the soul by the sincerity, persistence, and steadfastness of your God-seeking decisions.

Beginning in the middle [112:2.11, p. 1228] we are reminded that this section has important linkage to evolutionary philosophy, the details of which we are not addressing in depth during our current study. Our beginning paragraph is encouraging us to expand our consciousness in a vertical direction, with respect to the threefold actuality rather than horizontally. The conscious pursuit of reality to its ultimate analysis begins with matter, up through the realm of mind, to the insight of spirit, illuminating cosmic realities and supreme values of a spiritual nature. Our discussion involved applying our frequently used hourglass analogy of our mindal self for conceptualization of the stepwise ascent from the lower domain of adjutant mind sparked by the religious impulse of the 6th adjutant, up through the neck of the hourglass to the upper domain where genuine spiritual experience is found. A crucial distinction was made between the religious impulse of the adjutant of worship on the 2nd LoM in the lower domain, and genuine reflective worship on the 6th LoM in the upper domain. Much that passes for religious experience today results from the horizontal sideways movement on the level of the feelings to extraordinary and exotic feelings, rather than the genuine upward movement to higher realms of cosmic awareness.

In a response to a caller, we examined the differences between religious questions and philosophical questions. In our cosmic quest religious questions initiate our journey. The answers to our religious questions quickly bring us to the recognition of sonship with the Father, initiating our relationship to the cosmos, the threefold actuality. Following this religious initiation we are faced with questions of how to relate to others and even how we were initiated. This leads to questions of a philosophical nature, which in turn, with the help of the 5th ER, take us to the discovery of the Mother, an aspect of Deity that is overlooked by current day religionists. The resultant current confusion is illustrated by the attempt of religionists to rationalize the Father as both God transcendent and God immanent.

Our author describes stepping upward from science, the observation of the material world, to philosophy the observation of such an observation, arriving at true religion, the experiential realization of the triunity of cosmic reality. Any philosophy, based exclusively on matter, that does not encompass the triunity is most problematic, and ignores the consciousness of the observer as transcendent and apart from matter itself.

In [112:2.13] we are given the summation of the reciprocal perspectives of time and eternity. The temporal perspective is, thinking leads to wisdom and wisdom leads to worship. The eternal perspective is, worship leads to wisdom, and wisdom eventuates in the finality of thought. The whole point of the Father’s initiation is for a new beginning not an ending.

Unification of the evolving self is possible because of the design of its constituent parts, from the material biological vehicle to the supreme ideas, motives, and goals, plus the divine indweller of Paradise bestowal, which itself is the secret of the self-consciousness of man’s spiritual nature.

The purpose of cosmic evolution is to achieve unity of personality through increasing spirit dominance, through cooperative response to the teaching and leading of the Thought Adjuster. The evolution of dominance, the expansion of the control of both the personality and its environment is inherent in both human and superhuman personality.

Here’s the big picture: as ascenders we are Father seeking and Mother nature acquiring. As finaliters we are God the Mother nature revealing. Phase one can be called a religious, Father seeking period. The second phase is a philosophic one of revealing the Supreme Being of experience. All serious students of the revelation should visit the archive for the details of the advanced teaching on why and how this Supreme Being of experience turns out to be the Universal Mother.

We then looked at the parallel and analogous experience of descending personalities. Take for example a Paradise Creator Son. Phase one of his universe journey entails him coming out from Paradise, God the Father revealing, and God the Supreme nature acquiring. In his second phase, he’s God the Supreme revealing. Creatures seek and creators reveal. Of course, perfected pilgrims are trinitizers, tied to the Paradise Trinity, and can likewise reveal that which they have acquired. And as long as you are an experiential being you are acquiring. Following the citation [117:6.5, p. 1288] ensued a complex discussion concerning the connection between God the Mother, The Universal Mother, and the Supreme Being.

Our final paragraph of the evening provides a sum up of this paper’s first two section and transitions us into the always intriguing section, The Phenomenon of Death.

The material self is dependent on the continuing function of the material vehicle and the unbalanced equilibrium of energies and intellect, together called life. Of course this material self does not survive, but a selfhood that can survive is only evolved by establishing a potential transfer of the seat of the identity of the evolving personality, the soul. In our case this occurs by grace when we receive our Thought Adjuster. The actual transfer from material association to morontia identification is effected by the sincerity, persistence, and steadfastness of the God-seeking decisions of the human creature, in other words, the consecration of our mind to the universal harmony of God the Mother.

And thanks to our UB citation meister we were reminded of the related passage.

The keys of the kingdom of heaven are: sincerity, more sincerity, and more sincerity. All men have these keys. Men use them — advance in spirit status — by decisions, by more decisions, and by more decisions. [39:4.14]
