Commandments

From Symmetry of Soul

This is a compilation of the various lists of, or references to, commandments we follow on our world that are divinely inspired to a greater or lesser degree. The lists on this page start at the oldest and proceed to the newest.

Pre First Epochal Revelation

  • From [70:1.2], "The Andonites were early taught the golden rule."

First Epochal Revelation

From [66:7], the Dalamatian 7 commandments ("moral law" also known as "The Father's Way"), as promulgated by Hap and his college of revealed religion:

  1. You shall not fear nor serve any God but the Father of all.
  2. You shall not disobey the Father’s Son, the world’s ruler, nor show disrespect to his superhuman associates.
  3. You shall not speak a lie when called before the judges of the people.
  4. You shall not kill men, women, or children.
  5. You shall not steal your neighbor’s goods or cattle.
  6. You shall not touch your friend’s wife.
  7. You shall not show disrespect to your parents or to the elders of the tribe.

Second Epochal Revelation

The Edenic 7 commandments were "little different from the seven commandments of Dalamatia. But the Adamites taught many additional reasons for these commands..." [74:7.20]

Third Epochal Revelation

[93:4] The Machiventa Melchizedek seven commandments of the Salem religion were patterned along the lines of the ancient Dalamatian supreme law and very much resembled the seven commands taught in the first and second Edens (Parentheses here indicate the equivalent Dalamatian/Edenic commandment).

  1. You shall not serve any God but the Most High Creator of heaven and earth. (1)
  2. You shall not doubt that faith is the only requirement for eternal salvation. (NEW!)
  3. You shall not bear false witness. (3)
  4. You shall not kill. (4)
  5. You shall not steal. (5)
  6. You shall not commit adultery. (6)
  7. You shall not show disrespect for your parents and elders. (7)

Notice how they are similar, but more generally abstract in their presentation. For example, "don't bear false witness" is a more sophisticated concept than the relatively rote "don't speak a lie."

Israelities, after Exodus, before Sinai

As stated in [142:3.11-20], condensed from Exodus 34, these had drifted from the 3rd ER. They are essentially all materially oriented expounding of the first Dalamatian commandment:

  1. You shall worship no other god, for the Lord is a jealous God.
  2. You shall not make molten gods.
  3. You shall not neglect to keep the feast of unleavened bread.
  4. Of all the males of men or cattle, the first-born are mine, says the Lord.
  5. Six days you may work, but on the seventh day you shall rest.
  6. You shall not fail to observe the feast of the first fruits and the feast of the ingathering at the end of the year.
  7. You shall not offer the blood of any sacrifice with leavened bread.
  8. The sacrifice of the feast of the Passover shall not be left until morning.
  9. The first of the first fruits of the ground you shall bring to the house of the Lord your God.
  10. You shall not seethe a kid in its mother’s milk.

Moses

The 10 commandments from God are stated in [131:2.12]. Numbers in (parentheses) are the corresponding Dalamatian/Edenic commandments.

  1. You shall love me with all your heart. (1)
  2. You shall have no gods before me. (1)
  3. You shall not take my name in vain. (1)
  4. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. (1)
  5. Honor your father and mother. (7)
  6. You shall not kill. (4)
  7. You shall not commit adultery. (6)
  8. You shall not steal. (5)
  9. You shall not bear false witness. (3)
  10. You shall not covet. (5 and 6)

The first commandment (put God at the center of your life) gets expanded to 4 commandments. The second commandment has been a tough one for our world (Dalamatian or Edenic) and doesn't make an appearance here.

Buddhism

From [94:8], The moral commandments of Gautama’s preachment (in addition to optional, unlisted ones) were:

  1. You shall not kill. (4)
  2. You shall not steal. (5)
  3. You shall not be unchaste. (6)
  4. You shall not lie. (2)
  5. You shall not drink intoxicating liquors. (NEW!)

Parentheses indicate the rough parallel with Dalamatian/Edenic commandments.

Jesus' commentary on existing commandments

In [142:3.22] he says these constitute "the whole duty of man" (echoing Ecclesiastes 12:13), and in [174:4.2] he says "on these two commandments hang" all the Hebrew scriptures, and:

  1. Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. (based on Deuteronomy 6:4-5)
  2. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

In [149:6.7] Jesus gives "a new and higher commandment": Love God and learn to do his will, for that is the highest privilege of the liberated sons of God (again echoing Ecclesiastes).

In [163:2.4] Jesus calls out these as "all the commandments" with respect to works in the outer life:

  1. Do not commit adultery. (6)
  2. Do not kill. (4)
  3. Do not steal. (5)
  4. Do not bear false witness. (3)
  5. Do not defraud. (5)
  6. Honor your parents. (7)

He leaves off the first one, the most important one, because it's a matter of salvation and faith. See the full surrounding context to understand why he did this.

Jesus' new commandment

From [180:1.1], exhibit fatherly love. "And so I give you this new commandment: That you love one another even as I have loved you."
