Episode:Jesus Goes Public—Precursor and Prelude (Part 6)
When Jesus was baptized, he repented of no misdeeds; he made no confession of sin. His was the baptism of consecration to the performance of the will of the heavenly Father. At his baptism he heard the unmistakable call of his Father, the final summons to be about his Father’s business, and he went away into private seclusion for forty days to think over these manifold problems.
Opening thought: So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, because I know that I will soon put it aside...and I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things. [2 Peter]

Commentary after Review
We explored the physics of spirit gravity as a possible explanation of John the Baptist’s astonishing reply in prison to his disciples’ criticism of Jesus’ aloofness. Such an elevating focus in the inner life served to bring a clarity in the moment which surprised even John himself. This is in contrast to the animated self-righteous outbursts of the fanatic where the zeal of the 6th adjutant is augmented by the unharmonized and unbalanced action of the third cosmic intuition. It requires the first cosmic intuition influence of grounding in fact in concert with the spiritual insight of the third intuition to produce the integrous action of conforming with the cosmos. Many times SoS has remarked on the harmony and balance of spiritual idealism versus material pragmatism which characterized the Master’s methods.
Adherence to fact is waning in contemporary life. Again without the grounding influence of fact, attempts at seeking truth and goodness are deprived of connection to the cosmos (righteousness).
136:1 Concepts of the Expected Messiah
The numerous ideas entertained by the Jews about the expected Messiah were each reinforced by Hebrew scriptures, and represented an evolutionary path from “servant of the Lord” to the “son of David”, “Son of Man”, and “Son of God.” The concepts and terminology of the Son of Man and the Son of God were established in the thought-stream of the Jews, thanks to the work of Machiventa Melchizedek collaborating with prophets and seers for the previous nineteen centuries, ready and waiting for Jesus to amplify and uplift them.
Note of caution for the students of the 5th ER, as the Jews selectively cited their scriptures to bolster their particular versions of the expected Deliverer, selective citation of portions of the 5th ER can be used to “prove” many actually erroneous interpretations of the revelation. Correct understanding of the revelation demands reflective utilization of the cultivated faculties of the three cosmic insights not mere rationalizations of a collection of data points. This is a tall order to be sure especially in light of the absence on our world of visible, authoritative universe administrators.
Recall [196:3.10] concerning insight “...all the human mind can do is to discover, recognize, interpret, and choose. Without the reflective recognition step enabled through the insights of the Holy Spirit, our interpretations of reality are subject to serious distortion and error.
The learned opinion contemporary with John and Jesus of the Messiah, as servant of the Lord—prophet, priest, and king could hardly be assumed by Jesus. The Jews had completely lost sight of the personality of the Messiah in their desire for a national deliverer and restoration of national glory. The power aspects of the expected Messiah were more important than the person of the Deliverer himself. Had their thinking been less biased and the scriptures viewed from a different perspective Jesus could have been recognized for who he really was. As it is, a number of these concepts of the expected Messiah were incorporated into Christianity, e.g., original sin and dual spiritism.
The one unique feature of Jesus’ incarnation which had never found expression in human thought was the idea of the union of man and God in one person. And only with the 5th ER do we find an advanced revelatory concept frame involving the Paradise Trinity and Mother Deity as a basis for beginning to approach an understanding of such a mystery as the incarnation.
136:2 The Baptism of Jesus
Now for the second time around but from a different perspective we examine Jesus’ baptism. In large part the Jews presenting for John’s baptism did so in repentance for national sins. Jesus’ was a baptism of consecration in solidarity with many pious Israelites and in no sense one of repentance.
Jesus presented himself for baptism as the pinnacle of human evolutionary ascension. His conquest of mind (completion of psychic-circle attainment) and fullness of self-identification with the spirit, established in him perfect synchrony and full communication with the indwelling Adjuster. He thus stands on the brink of his post-human (superhuman) career.
In an ordinary human this state immediately precedes Adjuster fusion. However, in Jesus’ case something different occurs. Jesus’ fusion was with the fusion spirit of the Creator Son. Upon the baptism his Adjuster departs, only to immediately return, personalized by the Father and chief of his kind in all of Nebadon and commander of all celestial hosts assembled on Urantia. These omni-personal beings are like the Father himself, yet able to plug into the experiential domain without absorbing the entire domain into himself.
Jesus now removes himself for forty days of seclusion, which is in keeping with the practice of all mortals following Adjuster-fusion. It must be mentioned that Jesus is now superhuman and as such his post-baptism public ministry must be regarded from this perspective lest serious distortions ensue.
Notes by Brad
- The three cosmic intuitions need to all be used in a whole to avoid flying off.
- You can rationalize anything.
- More over: You can confirm false theories.
- Same problem with The Urantia Papers. In a selective mode, they can confirm false theories.
- But you can refute a false theory.
- That is, reflect your thinking back on the cosmos (in your inner life).
- Inner life required! You can confute anything.
- Requires take delight in cultivating.... A child of God doesn't have this. Adult of God required.
