34:5. Ministry of the Spirit

Here we are instructed in the role of the Divine Minister as the animator of lifeless material and her subsequent fostering of the progressive evolution of living things through the seven adjutant mind spirits up to the emergence of human beings. When the evolutionary human mind develops capacity for the adjutants of worship and wisdom, encircuitment in the Holy Spirit occurs. Mortals thus encircuited now experience the capacity for consciously or unconsciously choosing the spiritual presence of the Universal Father, the Thought Adjuster. Subsequent to the bestowal of the Spirit of Truth by a Paradise bestowal son, all normal minds are automatically prepared for the reception of Thought Adjusters.

The combined ministry of the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Truth acting as one, seek to teach, enlighten, inspire and lead material mortals toward their divine destiny.

While the SoT is almost wholly limited in function and power by man’s personal reception of the sum and substance of the son’s mission, the Holy Spirit is partly independent of human attitude and partially conditioned by decisions and cooperation of the human will. The Holy Spirit becomes increasingly effective in the sanctification and spiritualization of the inner life of those mortals who the more fully obey the divine leadings.

Think of the combined ministry of the Spirit (Spirit of Truth and Holy Spirit) as hovering over you and the world, and the Thought Adjusters actually indwelling your mind, and ever working in perfect harmony with this combined ministry. And it is this symmetry of spiritual endowment and ministry that qualifies you to consciously realize the faith-fact of sonship with God.

6. The Spirit in Man

As civilization advances, accompanied by further spiritualization of the peoples of the planet, enhanced ministries become available to mature personalities. Continuing mortal mastery of mind control and spirit perception then leads to repercussions in the overministry of the Paradise Trinity.

The human experience of God is one through the ministry of God the Sevenfold. As mortals progressively grow in appreciation of, and receptivity for the unifying ministry, it leads to the experience of the ministry of God the Supreme.

The divine Spirit descends from high origins to meet us as we are, and in partnership of faith leads us back up to those high spirit origins.

Spiritual forces going out from the Eternal, return thereto, bringing with them those who have been born of the spirit and who have espoused the leading and teaching of the indwelling Adjuster.

Note the use of the word “Spirit”. It denotes the combined ministry of the HS and the SoT as is used in the biblical references to follow.

The divine Spirit must dominate and control every phase of human experience.

We are temples of God (built through the encircuitment in the Holy Spirit), the TA dwells in this temple. We have an initial recognition of being born of the Spirit. Realization along with a newfound recognition follows, even a higher appreciation of God’s presence requires that we wholeheartedly consecrate our minds to this divine leading. This is thus a process that takes time. We are born of the Spirit by grace in an instant, but that realization doesn’t become an eternal possession until we “take delight in cultivating” a mind that has been reformed to conform with these gifts.

6.9

The dual urges of animal inheritance and spirit endowment are seldom fully reconciled in our short life in the flesh. There is however, a divine conspiracy whose purpose it is to effect our final deliverance from material bondage and finite handicaps.

6.10

This Spirit ministry is intended to strengthen our interior life and lead us in steps to the final attainment of the perfection of faith and service. This Spirit leading is never tainted with coercion or compulsion.

When spirit guidance is accepted, gradually a positive consciousness of divine contact and assurance of spirit communion develops. The Spirit bears witness with your spirit (TA) that you are a child of God. Along with this follows the exhibition of the fruits of the spirit — love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.

34:7. The Spirit and the Flesh

The animal-origin nature does not naturally bear spirit fruits. The up stepping of this nature with the Adamic contribution helps to render the flesh more spirit responsive. We are promised that unless we reject this spirit ministry, he will guide us into all truth.

The planetary rebellion deprived all subsequent generations of the moral assistance provided by a well ordered society. Even more disastrous was the Adamic default which deprived the races of a superior physical nature which would have been more conducive to spiritual striving.

The divine plan was that we would have physical natures more spiritually responsive. The Adamic default led to the marked struggling between the spirit and the flesh which is our experience.

We suffer from both a “nature and nurture” disaster. But a lot of this can be overcome, but only with wholehearted consecration of our mind to the leading of the spirit. This process will take time.

The paper ends with a stirring and reassuring call to progress in our Paradise ascension

We ended our study with the reading of the Cosmic fruits of the spirit as delivered to us by Jesus during one of his final morontia appearances. These fruits describe the nature of true cosmic character, found in P193:2.2, p. 2054, and they are: loving service, unselfish devotion, courageous loyalty, sincere fairness, enlightened honesty, undying hope, confiding trust, merciful ministry, unfailing goodness, forgiving tolerance, and enduring peace.
