Episode:Purpose and Destiny—Planetary Dispensations (Part 6)
The bestowal Son is the Prince of Peace. He arrives with the message, "Peace on earth and good will among men." However, Jesus warned his disciples that his advent would not bring the usual reign of peace. He distinctly told them that there would be "wars and rumors of wars", and that nation would rise against nation. At another time he said, "Think not that I have come to bring peace upon earth."

Commentary after Review
Last week’s summary referred to the stages of diminishing loyalty in a person’s descent from error and evil to sin and iniquity [89:10.2]. To be clear, it is the diminishing loyalty and devotion to genuine supreme values (religious loyalty) supplanted by increasing loyalty and devotion to secular ideals that constitutes the destructive path. The energies and impulses of loyalty inherent in the third adjutant mind spirit continue to function, but dangerously misdirected.
The revelators honor the struggles of our early ancestors noting that many of their sterling and rugged traits are missing in the more modern races. Herein is a reminder that in spite of the primitive actualities exhibited by our distant forebears, we must not fail to recognize the potentialities for grandeur and sublimity of attainment disclosed in the primitive scenarios such as the “snarling hulk” vignette portrayed in [100:4.5]. For in our present stage of ascension our cosmic value is overwhelmingly a potentiality as opposed to a reality, let alone an actuality.
A caller’s inquiry prompted a discussion of a cosmic pattern characterizing the transition from one stage of evolutionary progress to the next. Listen to the discussion which includes consideration of the bottom-up and top-down interplay whereby top-down divine influence exerts a drawing power which finds bottom-up creature response, which when attains a completion or ripening of process or stage, triggers the next top-down initiation of the subsequent stage of evolutionary development. Details of the discussion include the roles of the whole (source of evolution) and the parts which evolve. Reference was even made to the big picture in which the fifth and sixth triunities [104:4.29-38] function in this process.
52:5.8 Post-Bestowal Son Man (cont.)
Continuing our reading beginning in [52:5.8], the post-bestowal age on an average world, we discover descriptions of planetary conditions which sound like heaven on earth. On our world in our time we hold the golden rule as an ideal. [71:4.16] warns of the limitations of its application on a disordered world such as ours. It is on a normal world following the bestowal of a Paradise Son that the golden rule may be safely put into practical operation, without the danger of golden rulers being exterminated by baser orders of mankind. We are told that Jesus’ teachings are really applicable to a world which has been adequately prepared by the successful traversal of earlier dispensations. Why then did Jesus so teach on this world? Remember, Jesus gave us ideals of God for which to strive. He avoided discussing or presenting ideas of God. Ideals while unattainable in their fullness provide directionization for striving, development, and growth. Individual foundational prerequisite for successful incorporation of the Master’s teaching is to be found in the acceptance and practice of the 3rd ER.
Average life span of these worlds is about 300 years. Inasmuch as Adam and Eve lived over 500 year we deduce that considerable scientific intervention—specifically genetic engineering—is employed in extending the life span on all evolutionary planets. The original Adamic biological endowment suffers a considerable decline in the amalgamation and blending of the colored races, even on a normal world. It is not difficult to imagine that these necessary deficits are rehabilitated through scientific intervention.
Less government supervision and greater true self-government lead to fewer restrictive laws. Yet, nations are many and international harmony advances. On a planet with one race, one language, and one religion we wondered what kinds of differences would characterize the different nations in this age.
52:6 Urantia’s Post-Bestowal Son Age
We hardly need reminding that Urantia is not average or normal in traversing these planetary dispensations. Although Jesus is often referred to as the Prince of Peace, he declared that he did not come to bring peace on earth. His disciples can certainly enjoy the inner peace his faith confers; however, world-wide peace and brotherhood remains unrealized. Even on normal worlds the realization of the world-wide brotherhood of man is difficult, but on our world it is even more so. Recall previous discussions on SoS of kindred spirits versus kindred minds where it is the attainment of kindred minds that pave the way for the realization of human brotherhood. Spiritual brotherhood is readily enabled thru Jesus and his Spirit of Truth ministry, yet the realization of social brotherhood requires both personal transformations and planetary adjustments. Key to achieving human brotherhood on our world is by religious revelation. By contrast, the blight of secularism, even militant secularism represents a fundamental obstacle to such brotherhood and constitutes a major component of the planetary emergency to which the 5th ER is the divine response. After all, human brotherhood implies divine parentage.
Our Mighty Messenger author proceeds to enumerate five personal transformations and planetary adjustments necessary for the attainment of world-wide brotherhood. Some of these show some promise today, others not so much.
- Social fraternity (brotherliness) is found in various human endeavors across the globe.
- Intellectual cross-fertilization likewise is observable in numerous efforts of national multidisciplinary exchange programs. Yet the shadow of unmitigated selfishness, ignorance, and suspicion inhibit their greater success.
- Ethical Awakening depends upon the personal growth of genuine moral consciousness. Survey of current events does not lead to overwhelming optimism in this arena.
- Political Wisdom, the wise statesmen who work for the welfare of humanity while promoting their own national interests, are not in the majority today.
- Spiritual Insight, last, but actually first is the recognition of the fatherhood of God, without which human brotherhood can never be realized.
