The majority of inhabited planets are peopled with the breathing type of intelligent beings. But there are also radically modified orders of mortals who are able to live on worlds with little or no air. Of the Orvonton inhabited worlds this type amounts to less than seven per cent. In Nebadon this percentage is less than three. In all Satania there are only nine such worlds of the nonbreathers.

Commentary after review
In Paper 46, we learned that many of our misconceptions about the afterlife, such as the idea of instant perfection upon resurrection and the belief that we are alone in the universe, are “…but ignorant superstitions and pleasing fables.” In our current reading, we delve deeper into intricacies of the afterlife, exploring the existence of various beings that seem so strange to imagine. However, this knowledge grounds us in the facts and creates a foundation that can disabuse us of these ignorant superstitions and pleasing fables.
We discussed what it is that produces treasures in heaven to be stored. How do we make that happen? Reflective thinking serves as our bridge to eternity and an everlasting future. Without it, there is no mechanism for storing treasures that survive. Even powerful feelings cannot ensure those treasures. Our morontia self mirrors the part of us that engages in reflective thinking. That is what will survive this life in the flesh. The rest will be as chaff being blown from the wheat. We must trust the wise and gracious hands who take it all, sift it, keep what is worth keeping, and blow the rest away.
A team member discussed how interesting it is to peruse the book and note the places where the words are italicized. He noted that there are very few places where the entire sentence is italicized and that is from this paper that we are currently in, Paper 49, section 1. Mortal man is not an evolutionary accident. That detail unfolds in dramatic detail in this revelation and is especially true in this paper where we discuss things like life design and diversity. So why the italics? Because the idea that man is not an evolutionary accident is fundamental and foundational to understanding reality. How is it we’ve come so far from understanding that concept?
In the previous century, the concept of evolution began to take root in our collective consciousness. As it began encompassing our thought stream we began thinking that evolution was the explanation for the creation of humanity, replacing the need for a divine source at the core of all existence.
This godless idea that life just happened because certain genes mutated together with chromosomal rearranging is a lie that we’ve been marinating in all of our lives. Let’s beware of the insidious consequences of letting this be any part of the fabric of our hearts. Let’s wake up to the fact that without God there is nothing. Believing otherwise is a secular virus that has infected so many. It is the lie that Lucifer spread throughout the system. This humanistic, materialistic, and secular ideology threatens to disconnect us from reality. However, if we embrace our child of God status, purify ourselves from this fallacy, allow ourselves to be grown, and quest for real God-knowingness, we will get there.
A genuine religionist should never let the child be the parent. In otherwords, we should never let the lower domain be dominant over the upper domain. While it is true that we perforce serve two masters, still it is sad to record... how few persons take delight in parenting the child. The parenting is done with the personality management happening in the upper domain. If we do not parent the lower domain appropriately, we will falsely spiritualize the animal-origin nature and cut ourselves off from eternity. We need to control the lower domain, keep it in its place as a servant in time, while that upper domain remains the master in eternity.

We continued our reading about the Planetary Physical Types and were reminded about the distinction between the Named Types and the Unnamed Types. The Named Types are delineated in detail because of how consequential they are regarding our ascension career. The differentials found in the Named Types impact our intellectual life and the ability to have personality management. The Life Carriers want will creatures on every sphere possible. They will go to unbelievable lengths to modify beings so as to make their survival on these various worlds possible.
These evolving worlds can host a myriad of life forms, including those who live a marine existence for long periods of time, those who navigate life in the air, or those who are land dwellers. Additionally, there can be a combination of these as the planet evolves. However, the pattern on the System headquarters that is downstepped to every world is to have the beings eventually become land dwellers. Just as the Material Son and Daughter are. They are the center point for all of the creatures on every evolving world in our system. Furthermore, the evolving races are of the human and prehuman types. They are not superfishes or glorified birds. They are distinctly mortal. And mortals come forth from mammals.
Every 10 worlds the Life Carriers experiment and then re-assess to determine how the parameters of the Supreme have changed. This way they can modify the life they create to exist within the varied framework that each of these unique planets present.
Not all planets are of ideal size and density. And when conditions on a world are far from ideal it may set up an environment where the Life Carriers make extreme modifications to the life mechanism. This can render these individuals just marginally human. Mortals like this may have quite a challenge in making it to Paradise because these planetary handicaps can impact their spiritual lives. However, these percussions from our native sphere are all remedied by the time we reach the 3rd mansion world.
Discussing the Gravity Types, we learned that beings can be constructed to live on spheres both smaller and larger than Urantia. The planet's size determines its gravity, which in turn impacts many things, including the height of the beings living there. We learned that the range is from two and one-half feet up to 10 feet on the smaller worlds. The average is about 7 feet.
The Life Carriers also fashion beings who can withstand temperatures much higher and much lower than we can. There are five distinct orders of beings as they are classified with reference to heat-regulating mechanisms. And there are different electrical types, 10 altogether that are fashioned to withstand the differential energy of the spheres. What’s more, these various types process sunlight differently.
After reading about the Energizing Types of beings, we realized that the Life Carriers must design the beings for not only the current stage of existence but the future state of things as they might happen on a given world. The Master Physical Controllers have a sub-group called the Energy Transmitters. They are indispensable for those with an impoverished atmosphere and are integral to the technique of life on the non-breather worlds. They pump energy into each of these beings on a world requiring that type of assistance.
Finally we learned that the Unnamed Types have many distinctions and variations. However, none of these impact the intellectual or the spiritual life of beings the way things do with the Named Types.
49:3. Worlds of the Nonbreathers
We then moved on to discuss the Worlds of the Nonbreathers. We learned that less than seven percent of the worlds in Orvonton are home to this type of being. But after a bit of math, it extrapolates out to be 70 billion worlds in just our superuniverse that are home to this type of being. Our system has less than average but that is because of the meteoric space bodies that still abound. These beings must be fundamental to the Grand Universe scheme. Things do not happen by accident.
The Nonbreather worlds are fraught with electrical storms that are severe, and they must install electrical installations which operate to consume or shunt the meteors. When these worlds are terraformed, it is done to provide underground shelters for the inhabitants, not to provide a breathable atmosphere the way our world was set up. We noticed the word "shunt" when talking about the meteors. This implies an anti-gravity device because meteors are drawn in by gravity. This tells us that they must be far more advanced than we are.
Life on Nonbreather worlds is vastly distinct from life on Earth. These beings don't consume food or water like humans do, and their nervous system, temperature control, and metabolism function in unique ways. Nearly every aspect of their existence, including for reproduction, varies significantly, including the methods of procreation.
On nonbreathing worlds the animals are very different from those on planets with atmospheres like Earth's. The way these mortals live and survive is completely distinct. Despite these differences, they still experience life's challenges and joys, just like humans on Earth. However, they are so different in their upper domain that they cannot fuse with their Thought Adjuster and so they become Spirit Fusers. How will the universe use beings like these from 70 billion worlds?
To pique our interest even further they tell us that we would be more than interested in the planetary conduct of this type of mortal because such a race of beings inhabits a sphere in close proximity to Urantia. We have been told in the revelation that there are 12 planets in our solar system. Could this world of the Nonbreathers be the twelfth?
