Annotations are an intermediate format for possible incorporation into annotated materials. They are not as convenient to read as the Summary or Notes sections, but may be of interest to some.
The format of the reference number is aaabbbccc[,dd]: the 3-digit paper, section, and item numbers, respectively, of the Standard Reference Text, followed by an optional word number in the paragraph-item.
Paper zero is the Foreword. Section zero is the preface material of a paper or the foreword. For example:
- 082000002 is a comment about paragraph 2 in the preface material of paper 82.
Item zero is a general annotation about the paper or section. Using the word number for this kind of annotation should be avoided. For example:
- 082000000 is a general comment about Paper 82
- 082001000 is a general comment about section 1 of Paper 82
